Develop cadre for mental healthcare: National Institute of Disaster Management

Covid-19 pandemic has taken a toll on mental health and there was an urgent need to develop a cadre of trained psycho-social support providers, the National Institute of Disaster Managment (NIDM) said in a report.

The report, which was submitted to the Prime Minister's Office, said there was a shortage of mental health professionals for addressing the mental health crisis unfolding in the country on account of the pandemic. It recommended completing the mental health pyramid.
