Draft of WHO-China report says the coronavirus likely spread from animals to humans, lab leak unlikely

A joint WHO-China study on the origins of COVID-19 says that transmission of the virus from bats to humans through another animal is the most likely scenario and that a lab leak is “extremely unlikely.”

The closest relative of the virus that causes COVID-19 has been found in bats, which are known to carry coronaviruses.
