A deadly, incurable disease caused by rodents has been spreading in the US and claiming lives. The rodent-borne hantavirus, though rare, has a fatality rate of 38 per cent approximately. HPS is a severe disease that can affect the lungs, the CDC warns, adding that its symptoms usually start to show anytime between 1 and 8 weeks after a person has come into contact with an 'infected' rodent. Early symptoms are fatigue, fever and muscle aches.
