Forest fires across the country down by half compared to last year

Wildfires reported between February and April, a period considered early in the forest fire season, has reduced by half across the country as compared to last year, as per data made available online by the Doon-based Forest Survey of India (FSI).
As opposed to 75,761 alerts sent out by FSI from February 15 to April 2 in 2021, 34,914 were sent out in the same time period this year, marking a dip of 49.9%.
