From a family of 10 karate experts, Yamato shines as Kerala’s School Games champion

Yamato, the champion in the under-54 kg karate competition for senior boys at the games, not only carries a Japanese name but also deeply connects with the East Asian country. Yamato, a class 9 student at St Anne’s Higher Secondary School, Kurianad in Kottayam, is the son of Sudeep T Cyriac and Monu. Sudeep, the coach of the Kerala state karate team from 2002 to 2018, belongs to Uzhavoor in Kottayam. Monu hails from Assam.
