India’s population to reach 152.2 cr by 2036; gender ratio to see slight improvement

A report by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation says the ratio of women will slightly increase from 943 (per 1,000 men) in 2011 census to 952 in 2036. The national census conducted in 2011 had pegged the country’s population at 121.08 crore. Last year, the United Nations had projected India’s population to touch 142.57 crore by April-end, surpassing China as the world's most populated country.
