According to the ECI, the first two runners-up in a constituency will be able to seek verification of EVM microcontrollers for alleged tampering or modification. The process will cost ₹40,000 plus 18% GST to seek checking and verification of each EVM unit (comprising the control unit, ballot unit, and VVPAT), the ECI said. This amount will be refunded if the unit is proven tampered with in the verification process, the court ruled.
