The baby's case was jointly handled by doctors from Gurugram's Motherhood Hospital and Saksham Hospitals. She had 'persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPHN) of the newborn', which is a rare and serious condition. Usually, when a baby takes their first breath their pulmonary vessels open. But when there is PPHN, blood vessels to the baby's lungs do not fully open, and the brain and the rest of the body may not get enough oxygen.
