SC asks CBI to probe alleged 'abduction' of dentist by Chandigarh Police

The Bench was hearing a petition filed by Chandigarh against the order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court which while granting interim protection to Dr Dhawan directed the Punjab police chief to constitute an SIT. The enquiry will investigate whether Dr Dhawan was illegally detained or arrested by Chandigarh Police in connection with FIR No. 56/2021 and if he was produced before a magistrate within the required 24-hour period.
