Smartphone PLI revenue rings louder; 19x revenue boost for govt in 4 years

The smartphone production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme has become a revenue bonanza for the government. The industry contributed Rs 1.10 lakh crore to the government exchequer. It produced goods worth Rs 12.55 lakh crore between FY21 and FY24, during which the government disbursed Rs 5,800 crore in incentives, according to India Cellular and Electronics Association’s (ICEA) assessment of the PLI scheme.
