Stone found in Egypt hides first clues of biggest explosion

It was in 2013 that researchers announced that a small pebble found in southwest Egypt was not from Earth. Two years later, analysis showed it was not part of any known types of meteorite or comet.

Nearly a decade after the first announcement, researchers have concluded the origin of the rock known as Hypatia — a supernova explosion from outside our solar system.
