World Music Day 2024: Date, history, significance and celebrations

World Music Day is celebrated in more than 120 countries on June 21 and the significance of this day extends beyond mere performance. Also known as Fête de la Musique, this annual event, steeped in history and cultural significance, offers a platform for communities to come together in a harmonious celebration of sound. This was the brainchild of Jack Lang, then French Minister of Culture, and Maurice Fleuret, a renowned composer and music journalist.
