‘Black fungus’ declared an epidemic in Delhi as city reports 153 more cases

The decision came on a day when Delhi reported 153 new cases of the fungal infection taking the city’s tally to 773. Under provisions of the Epidemic Act, medical facilities will now have to report all suspected and confirmed cases of black fungus to Delhi’s health department.

All government and private health facilities will now follow guidelines for screening, diagnosis and management of mucormycosis issued by the ministry and the Indian Council for Medical Research.
