‘Squid Game’ director Hwang Dong-hyuk and actor Lee Jung-jae get cultural merit award

The director of the hit Netflix series Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, and lead actor Lee Jung-jae continued their winning streak with their latest honour. President Yoon Suk-yeol presented both stars with the Geumgwan Order of Cultural Merit, which is South Korea’s highest national cultural medal, in a Seoul ceremony. ‘Squid Game’ is a dystopian series where debt-ridden contestants compete in a sadistic game to win a large sum of money.
