3,000 snails travel 3,000 miles in an effort to save a species

The critically endangered lesser Bermuda land snails, facing threats and nearing extinction, have been successfully bred and reintroduced to their native habitat in Bermuda. Chester Zoo in the UK played a vital role in the breeding program, and 1,000 snails were recently released on three Bermuda islands. The success of the larger Bermudan land snail's reintroduction has given hope for the lesser snail's recovery.
