Rosemary Fowler, a pioneering female physicist from the UK, was a 22-year-old doctoral researcher at the University of Bristol in 1948 when she discovered the Kaon particle, which helped lead to a revolution in the theory of particle physics. Her discovery continues to be proven correct, predicting particles such as the Higgs boson, discovered at CERN in Geneva. Her discovery also contributed to Cecil Powell’s Nobel Prize for Physics in 1950.
