A magnitude 7.8 earthquake shook Turkey and Syria on Monday, killing thousands of people in the two countries. The death toll has crossed 15,000 and rising as rescuers are working in cold and snow looking for trapped people in the rubble. Estimates put the number at a staggering 316,000 dead in Haiti by a magnitude 7.0 quake in Jan 2010 and 87,500 deaths in eastern Sichuan in China by a magnitude 7.9 quake. Here are some of the world’s deadliest earthquakes in the past 25 years.
