Agra's Black Taj Mahal, is it more than a legend?

A very popular legend, the belief about a black Taj stems from the writings of French traveller Jean Baptiste Tavernier. His writings mention about Shan Jahan's idea of building a black Taj Mahal, right across from the existing one! He also wrote that the plans were thwarted by Shah Jahan's son Aurangzeb. The evidence that supported this theory was the black stones that were found in Agra's famous garden, Mahtab Bagh, across the river.
