Amid defections, BJP drops 20 MLAs from first list of candidates for UP polls

The BJP on Saturday announced its list of candidates for the first two phases of polling in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, scheduled to begin from February 10.
The move to axe as many as 20 MLAs from contesting polls comes against the backdrop of a string of high-profile defections from the BJP this week.
