Assam minister Baruah labels alcohol as a luxury item amid rising prices

Addressing a rally at Rabindra Bhawan in Bongaigaon city, BJP leader Jayanta Malla Baruah emphasised the party's commitment to creating an alcohol-free Assam. "Alcohol is a luxury which is consumed by rich people. It is not a necessity. Nobody drinks alcohol to survive life rather than drinks for luxury. Traditional alcohol is not affected by the price rise, those indigenous drinks are prepared at home to maintain our tradition", Barua said.
