The development comes amid private tankers doubling their prices as the Karnataka capital faces a severe water shortage. Around 200 private tankers have been deployed on a contract basis to supply water to Bangalore city. The district collector of Bangalore City standardised the tanker rates following an appeal from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).
