Case, spot fine, awareness class for two-wheeler riders violating helmet rule

The police will conduct a mass drive across Coimbatore city on Friday to take action against people who ride two-wheelers without wearing helmets. As per the amended Act, applicable to both the rider and the pillion rider, riding a two-wheeler without wearing a helmet attracts a spot fine of ₹ 1,000. The traffic police are planning to conduct similar drives to create awareness of other violations in the coming weeks.
