CCI: Google fails to get immediate relief before NCLAT

NCLAT's two-member bench dismissed Google's request for an interim stay on an antitrust ruling by the CCI that imposed a penalty of Rs 1337.76 crore. The appellate tribunal directs Google to deposit 10 per cent of the Rs 1337.76 cr penalty, it has also issued notices to CCI and was directed to list the matter on February 13, for a hearing over interim stay. On the deposit by Google, experts say that NCLAT has the power to order a pre-deposit of sorts although it is not mandatory under law.
