China to step up quantum computing, AI in tech self-sufficiency drive

Hit hard by trade tensions with the United States which has restricted exports of chips and some other components, China will formulate plans to develop emerging industries including quantum computing and continue striving to achieve self-sufficiency in technology. It will also step up efforts in big data and AI and intends to launch some major science and technology programmes to meet major strategic and industrial development goals.
