Congress workers sat on a dharna in a garbage yard on Karwar Road on Monday, blocking all garbage vehicles on Monday to protest the burning of garbage in the open by the HDMC. “Due to the burning of garbage, residents of surrounding areas were suffering from breathing distress. As the yard does not have a compound wall, stray dogs wander between the yard and residential area,” he said. Officials assured them of action to stop the burning and would fence the area to prevent stray dogs.
