Covid-19: India records 114 fresh cases, active caseload stands at 870

Maharashtra reported one new fatality. The country witnessed a decline in daily cases to double digits until Dec 5, following which cases surged, attributed to the emergence of a new variant and cold weather conditions. Since the onset of the pandemic in early 2020, India has recorded over 4.5 crore infections and more than 5.3 lakh deaths due to the disease. The country has administered 220.67 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines so far.
