COVID-19: Rare fungal infection detected in coronavirus patients

At a time when the world thought that the COVID-19 pandemic couldn't get any worse, doctors in Ahmedabad have reported about a rare and serious fungal infection that is preying on COVID-19 patients and also on those who had recently recovered.

Five cases of mucormycosis have been detected. Mucormycosis is an uncommon fungal infection with a mortality rate of 50%. Two patients have already died while two surviving patients have lost their eyesight.
