Covid vaccine allocation is based on infections, population, says Centre on reports of shortage

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday said that every citizen will be vaccinated against Covid-19, amid reports of several states facing a shortage of doses. The finance minister said that states are allocated stocks based on the spread of the infection and the density of the population.
Her comments came at the same when the Odisha government stopped the vaccination drive in 16 districts due to a shortage of Covishield doses.
