Dal Lake freezes, Srinagar records coldest night since 1991

A major portion of Kashmir's famous Dal Lake and several other water bodies froze on Thursday as the cold wave in the valley continued with Srinagar recording the coldest night in 30 years. Srinagar recorded a low of minus 8.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday, which is the lowest since 1991 when the mercury plunged to minus 11.4 degrees Celsius.
Srinagar's District Magistrate has issued an advisory to dissuade people from walking, playing or moving on the frozen Dal Lake.
