Defeat scams! Series of phone numbers to help you spot fraud calls

Department of Telecom (DoT) introduced a new numbering series with the prefix '160' to help citizens differentiate between legitimate calls from scam dials. This will be used for official communication by regulatory bodies, government agencies, and other financial institutions. The new number series will replace ‘140xxxxxxx’ which is currently used by telemarketers to make promotions, services, and transactional voice calls.
