Facebook to put UK data under US purview after Brexit

Facebook will shift oversight of data belonging to its British users from Ireland to the US, moving it out of the purview of EU privacy regulators after Brexit. The Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's privacy regulator, has said that the UK would introduce its own data protection regime, the "UK GDPR", which mirrors the EU rules.

Facebook said that there will be no change to the privacy controls or the services Facebook offers to people in the UK.
