Domestic markets started the day with losses amid weak global cues. S&P BSE Sensex was down more than 600 points or 1.15% at 57,240 while NSE Nifty 50 index was down 200 points or 1.18% nearing 17,000 levels.
Bank Nifty was down nearly 2%, giving up 36,000 while Indi VIX soared 5.4% higher.
