Gaza is a small coastal enclave in the eastern Mediterranean, bordered by Israel to the east and Egypt to the south. It is densely populated, with over 2 million residents, primarily Palestinians. Since 2007, Gaza has been governed by Hamas, an Islamist Palestinian political and military organisation, following a split with the Palestinian Authority, which governs the West Bank. Gaza has been under an Israeli blockade since 2007, which restricts the movement of people and goods.
