Govt rethink: Revival plan for four tram routes

The state government has done a rethink on trams and decided to propose operations on four routes in its affidavit to the Calcutta HC. Sources in the government said it will propose retaining tram operations on the three existing routes - Esplanade-Shyambazar; Esplanade-Gariahat and Tollygunge-Ballygunge - in addition to restarting services on the Esplanade-Kidderpore route. What led to the rethink, officials said, was the outcry from different sections of people.
