Multiple sclerosis is a chronic condition that affects the Central Nervous System. It occurs when the immune system attacks the brain and spinal cord, leading to a mild or a 'worsening' form of disability over time. Although the exact cause behind this difference is yet to be determined, researchers believe there could be several factors at play, including differences in how male and female immune systems work, hormonal changes, genetics, and pregnancy.
