Ian heads to South Carolina: hurricane warning issued

A Hurricane warning was issued for the entire coast of South Carolina on Thursday as forecasters predicted Hurricane Ian would turn north to gain strength.

Although briefly downgraded to a tropical storm on Thursday morning, Ian had once again reached hurricane-force winds by afternoon, and the National Hurricane Center warned that the storm would re-emerge as a Category 1 hurricane.
