India logs 42,625 Covid cases; 562 deaths in 24 hours

India has registered 42,625 new Covid cases and 562 fatalities in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data on Wednesday. 

The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 23,676 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 6,005 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,908 cases, Karnataka with 1,674 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 1,546 cases. Around 81.67 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 55.54 per cent of the new cases.
