India proposes swappable batteries for electric scooters, rickshaws

India is planning new rules to make batteries used in scooters, motorcycles, and rickshaws swappable across different models.
The move will decouple battery costs from the upfront cost of buying electric vehicles, thus driving EV adoption. Although electric vehicle (EV) adoption has grown significantly over the past decade, battery swapping has never been a mainstream charging method.
