Into the 2020s, the space agency is gearing up for more big missions: Chandrayaan-3 in early 2021; the Aditya mission to the sun, also by early 2021; and Mangalyaan-2 by 2023. More than 500 industries are involved in the development of launch vehicles and satellites. The Indian space programme had its grounding in applications to society right from the beginning.
