Japan has revised the timing of a planned release in the sea of treated, but still radioactive wastewater at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant to “around spring or summer,” suggesting a delay from this spring’s original goal, taking into account the progress of a release tunnel and the need to garner public support. The government and Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings announced in April 2021 a plan to start discharging the treated wastewater into the sea in spring 2023.
