The doctors of the Indian Army have achieved a new feat as they successfully removed a soldier's appendix in a dug-in at a forward surgical centre in Eastern Ladakh at 16,000 feet.
The surgery was performed by a team of three doctors on a soldier who could not be evacuated from Eastern Ladakh to Leh due to the weather conditions. Despite the adversities faced by the doctors, the operation was successful and the patient is stable now.
