Leh lifts prohibitions imposed to prevent Sonam Wangchuk’s China border march

Leh District Magistrate announced the immediate withdrawal of the restrictions imposed under Section 144, citing no further threat to peace and public order. Earlier, the Leh Apex Body (LAB) called off the border march towards the China border scheduled for April 7, to avoid clashes with law enforcement. The march was intended to protest against the loss of farmers’ land to industrial development and alleged Chinese territorial encroachments.
