Lithuania ‘first in EU’ to cut off Russian gas imports

Lithuania has cut itself off entirely from gas imports from Russia, allegedly becoming the first of the EU’s 27 nations that use Russian gas to do so, a statement said.

“Seeking full energy independence from Russian gas, in response to Russia’s energy blackmail in Europe and the war in Ukraine, Lithuania has completely abandoned Russian gas,” Lithuania’s energy ministry Dainius Kreivys said on Saturday.
