Lockdown 5: Amit Shah meets PM Modi, states ask for extension

With two days left for the fourth phase of the ongoing nationwide lockdown to end,  Home Minister Amit Shah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to communicate suggestions from chief ministers on whether the lockdown should be further extended. On Thursday, Shah had reached out to chief ministers of states and union territories seeking feedback on the lockdown so far and also asked for suggestions for the way forward. The fourth phase of the lockdown from May 18 to 31 gave considerable relaxations compared to the previous three phases when the Centre demarcated the sensitivity of zones and also the activities permitted in the states.
