Maharashtra Ganesh idol makers face demand scarcity as Covid-19 cases rise

Nearly a month ahead of Ganesh Utsav, Ganesh idol makers in Maharashtra's Mumbai said they are reeling under the effect of Covid-19 restrictions. Business is down for the second consecutive year, claim some idol makers.

"Though the situation is slightly better this year, the demand is still way below pre-Covid levels. Input cost has also risen," said an idol maker whose family has been in the business for over 30 years.
