Nuclear scientist, R Chidambaram passes away at 88

Dr Rajagopala Chidambaram was the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, a post he held for 17 years, when India did the crucial Pokhran-II nuclear tests, passed away today. Chidambaram was also instrumental in the installation of the bust of Dr Homi Bhabha outside the boardroom in IAEA headquarters in Vienna, says Dr K Raghuraman, a former BARC scientist.
