NDRF jawan Venkatesh NK was on Coromandel Express, travelling from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu, when he felt a massive jolt and saw some passengers in his coach falling down. That was the moment the Coromandel Express derailed. One of the first responders, he immediately called his senior inspector to inform him about the accident. The 'live location' of the site sent by Venkatesh on WhatsApp to the NDRF control room was used by the first rescue teams.
