Postpartum depression: New research sheds light on prolonged hormonal changes

A study by Johns Hopkins Medicine explores the link between early life stress and postpartum depression (PPD), shedding light on potential alternative treatment approaches. The research team subjected mice to social isolation during adolescence and observed behavioural changes indicative of depression in postpartum mothers. Stressed mothers exhibited decreased mobility and reduced sugar preference, persisting for up to three weeks post-delivery.
