Right to perform respectable last rites is part of Article 21

The Allahabad High Court recently initiated a case on its own after a newspaper reported that the remains of a woman have been stored in an Etawah morgue in Uttar Pradesh for three years. The court, led by Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker and Justice Ajay Bhanot, expressed that the right to perform respectful last rites and consign mortal remains to the elements, in accordance with customs, is a fundamental aspect of Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.
