The all-India demand had also increased due to the summer season and there was a shortage in the country due to high demand for domestic coal and a shortage of international coal which had increased the market clearing prices in exchange for power, shortage of gas due to Ukraine crisis as a result of which most gas units were under shut down or running below capacity. Some thermal plants had gone on planned or forced outage, resulting in dropping Goa's schedule by 40 MW.
